CHC52025 - Diploma of Community Services
The Diploma of Community Services provides students with the knowledge and skills to work in the community services sector in residential and community settings. Students will learn how to provide a holistic approach to client needs, including social, emotional, psychological and practical support.Students will need to successfully complete work placements, for which they will be required to hold a current Police Check and a current Working with Children Check.
Course Duration & Structure
- Face to face (Theory in class): 1 day per week at 7 hours per day for 52 weeks
- Practical placement (work experience): minimum 100 hours
- 10 scheduled workshops (80 hours) focusing on case management simulations, client intake, and crisis response scenarios.
- 10 workshops (70 hours). Designed to develop research, collaboration, and analytical skills.
- Independent learning activities including reading, research, and revision: 4 hours per week (208 hours total) to consolidate learning.
- Workplace Tasks Applications: be completed outside of the classroom over 6 hours per week.
Entry Requirements
- Applicants will be required to undertake a pre-training review to determine English level and overall suitability for the course.
- Current Working with Children check.
- Current Police Check.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
For students who have previously completed a Nationally Accredited course maybe eligible to receive credit towards the course. RPL is offered to any Learner who can provide evidence of competency for the units offered within this Diploma of Community Services course. During the enrolment process a potential Learner may discuss any prior evidence before commencing training to determine if they are eligible for RPL. An additional fee for this service will be discussed with you upon application.

For eligible student students, Limited Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding spots is available through the Skills First Program.
For full fee paying students, payments plans may be available
